George W Lambert
You know who was good at babes? George W Lambert. This is actually a painting of his son, aged 18 I think?
And this guy is Hugh Ramsay, also a painter. Man. Top hats. pierre bonnard
I really think this lithograph is lovely. I know that at the time all those French guys were all "Ooh lets look at ladies while theyre doing private things wouldnt that be great!" But this one seems to me to go beyond that. I think it's the strong shadows and her unsexy quite private posture. I get this strong vibe of solitude and contemplation from it. Maybe lonlieness or being at peace. Its very dreamy and nice. It makes me want to sit in a bath tub. It makes me want to see her face. It makes me a little bit in love with her. Which is something that happens quite a lot to me when I look at Pierre Bonnards art. Maybe because he used his wife as a model so often? Don't know.
I saw this one in the real life and it was massive. I wanted to stare, but kind of felt uncomfortable doing so with all the people around. Seriously, Bonnards wife was a babe.
The weird perspective, the water and the colours are all perfect in this.
Another cool thing about Pierre Bonnard is that he really dug cats.

the best painting ever
There are mermaids. At a real historical event. That Maria De Medici commissioned Rubens to commemorate. I have so much love for this image.
Sidney Nolan
I like Sidney Nolan.
Pretty sure most people like him.
Maybe dont quote me on that.
Look at him being all abstracty.
Its the boy and the moon, get it?
